WineDown Wednesday: Winter Wins + Work-Life Boundaries

🌹WineDown Wednesdays w/ Yours Truly🌹

Hey hey hey welcome to Wednesday!!! How is your week going? Mine is moving along great! The kids have been in school all week, and we've survived the beautiful snow that hit us last week. My youngest daughter and niece had a BLAST playing outside in the snow. I had to keep them on 15-30 minute intervals because it was so cold, and I had to have the hot chocolate on deck when they came inside, but I can honestly say we enjoyed being snowed in.

Just a heads up before everyone starts yelling at me because I know it is coming.........your calendars are in the mail! I know I am behind, and I know you all have been patiently waiting, but they are officially on their way. I used a new company this year, and there are some things I loved about it and others not so much. Let me know your thoughts on it when you get it. I truly would appreciate the feedback.

My reading goal so far this year is on its way, but the weird part, I technically have not finished an actual book that I started this year. I finished 3 books last month, BUT I started them in 2025.......do I still get to count them for this year? I know, such a hard decision, but that is my thought process. I think I will see where I am at towards the end of the 3rd quarter and then decide if I am going to need those extra 3 books in my book count.

The craziest thing happened this weekend: I officially have a 21-year-old! I still can not believe this is life, but here we are. :) I love watching the way she lives life too, it's both exciting and terrifying. Exciting in the sense she is very fearless with trying new things and changing locations/scenery at any moment; and then the terrifying part is as a parent.......whew!!! Everything I just said, lol. In all seriousness, I love it. Watching them live their lives is by far my favorite part of being a parent.

The book I am currently reading discusses setting boundaries with everyone, including family, which can sometimes get sticky, but is healthy for you. It also discusses how "No." is a complete sentence. I know I can be guilty of taking the time to give an explanation when saying no to something, and the reality.......just say "No." Nothing else is needed. I can't wait to use it on my kids, LOL. We'll see how strong I stand because they always expect a reason when you tell them no. Have you thought of the way you set boundaries with people in your life? Not just family, but work life as well. I remember when I first got into sales, I worked for Verizon, selling cellular phone plans. I worked all the time. The crazy part, I didn't mind it, but I did change my plans a lot to stay late or come in early. This job was my first and hardest lesson on setting work boundaries, and it still took me years to come even further than that. What about you? What boundaries are you having a hard time setting, and not only that, if you set those boundaries, how much more improved would your life be?
